OCLC International Study on Perception of Libraries and Information Resources
Check out OCLC’s report on users’ perceptions of libraries and information resources, an international study on information seeking habit and preferences of consumers from Australia, Canada, Singapore, India, the United Kingdom and the United States. You can download the full report in PDF format (around 290 pages). I haven’t read the entire report yet, but there were some alarming trends in the information seeking behavior of the respondents which libraries and librarians should think about. Luckily the respondents were representative of the online community. In the Philippine context, I would like to believe that majority of the information consumers are still library users and not your new breed of web savvy-technologically-aware information seekers and very few libraries are in this dilemma yet.
